The basics

What is Cinewright?

When can I get it?

Every Cinewright app is finished. They launch through a Kickstarter campaign in late 2026 or early 2027; nothing is on sale yet. Backers get their licences by email after the campaign ends. Join the list to hear first.

Cinewright Continuity for Mac $149 (Education $49; $99 for Pro owners). Cinewright for iPhone and iPad is free, with Pro $59.99 once. CW Office and the Reader are free. See every price and Kickstarter tier.

I own Cinewright Pro. How do I get the Pro-owner price?

At launch, when the Mac apps go on sale on this website, email a screenshot of your App Store receipt for Cinewright Pro to support@getcinewright.com. We reply with a one-use discount code: Budgeting and Scheduling for $249 instead of $299, and Cinewright Continuity for $99 instead of $149. Nothing is on sale yet. Prices.

Is it a subscription?

No. Budgeting and Scheduling for Mac ($299) and Cinewright Continuity for Mac ($149) are each bought once. CW Office and the Reader are free, and Cinewright for iPhone and iPad is free, with Pro a one-time unlock for $59.99.

How many computers can I use?

A Budgeting and Scheduling licence is for one person on two computers, in any mix of Mac and Windows (Windows included when it ships).

What happens if I can’t get online for weeks?

Nothing changes. Cinewright works offline for as long as you need: no licence check-ins, no account and no server. Your budget and schedule always open, on a remote shoot, a closed set or a plane.

Which devices does it run on?

Cinewright Budgeting and Scheduling, Cinewright Continuity and the Reader run on the Mac. CW Office runs on iPad. Cinewright runs on iPhone and iPad, with an Apple Watch slate remote. Some tools need LiDAR, an iPad with USB-C or Apple Intelligence.

Is there a Windows or Android version?

Budgeting and Scheduling for Windows and Cinewright for Android are in development, with no date yet.

Is Cinewright Continuity ready?

Yes. Cinewright Continuity, script supervising on the Mac, is finished and launches with the rest of the suite through Kickstarter in late 2026 or early 2027: $149, or $99 on Kickstarter. It is not on sale yet. Script supervising is also part of Cinewright for iPhone and iPad. More about Continuity.

What’s the difference between script supervising in Cinewright for iPhone and iPad and Cinewright Continuity for Mac?

The script supervising is the same: Cinewright Continuity is built from the script supervisor in Cinewright for iPhone and iPad, with the same lined script, take log, continuity stills, shoot day, reports and editorial exports, laid out for a Mac’s big screen, keyboard, mouse or trackpad. The camera tools stay on iPhone and iPad: the viewfinder, the slate’s camera, AR and scouting, and the Apple Watch remote; on the Mac, continuity stills come from Photos or a file, such as a frame grab. Both use the same files, so a production moves between them through the shared production folder or a handover file. On iPhone and iPad, Cinewright Pro ($59.99 once) opens every page of every script; free, you get the first 3 pages of any script, or one whole production for 60 days. Cinewright Continuity is $149 once ($99 on Kickstarter, $99 for Pro owners at launch through the receipt email, $49 Education); free, it lines and logs the first 3 pages of any script. One Continuity licence opens both the Mac app and script supervising on iPhone and iPad; Cinewright Pro does not open the Mac app. Which should I get? A phone or iPad on set: Cinewright for iPhone and iPad. A desk or cart setup with a Mac: Cinewright Continuity. Both: one Continuity licence covers the two.

Working with your files

Can I open my Movie Magic, Gorilla or Showbiz files?

Budgeting and Scheduling opens exports from them: Movie Magic Budgeting XML, EP Vista XML and text, Movie Magic Scheduling breakdown exports and .sex exchange files, Showbiz Budgeting .ubx and CSV, and Gorilla schedule, breakdown and budget exports. See files in and out.

I know Movie Magic, Gorilla or Showbiz. Will I find my way?

Tours in the app name the other program’s word and show where Cinewright’s is, and an optional Movie Magic–style key set adds familiar shortcuts. Watch the videos.

Which script formats does it read?

Final Draft (.fdx, with breakdown tags), Fountain, Fade In, Highland, Celtx, PDF and scanned pages.

Can several people work on one production?

Yes, in beta. Shared editing lets several people work on one production at once through the production folder, with no server and no accounts. Edits arrive as fast as your cloud drive passes files on, often within a minute.

Do crew need to install anything?

No. Crew without the app get call sheets by email or text in their own language, web pages that open in any browser, and confirm their calls with a reply. The Reader is free for anyone who wants it.

Privacy and security

Do I need an account or an internet connection?

No. There is no account and no sign-in, and the apps work offline for as long as you need. A few optional features use the internet when you use them, such as a weather forecast, map lookups and iCloud sync. See the privacy policy.

Where is my work kept?

On your own devices, and in any folder or iCloud account you choose. We never see it. Each app keeps automatic safety copies, and deleted items wait 30 days in Recently Deleted.

Is it suitable for confidential productions?

It is built for closed sets: no server, encrypted links on set joined by code, signed files, codenames, a sealed production folder and Face ID locks. See security and privacy.

Is the on-device intelligence accurate?

It answers from your production’s own records, lists every record it used, and says so when nothing matches. The figures are computed by the app; Apple’s on-device model only suggests where things go. It is off until you turn it on, and nothing leaves your device.

Languages and accessibility

Which languages does it speak?

Sixteen: English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Turkish, Arabic, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese. Hebrew, Hungarian and Czech are planned for the first update after launch.

Does it work with VoiceOver?

VoiceOver support is in beta, being tested with VoiceOver users before launch. Every screen also works by keyboard on the Mac and iPad, and colour is never used alone.

Kickstarter

What are the Kickstarter prices?

Budgeting and Scheduling for Mac: $199, $149 for the first 300 backers, or $69 for students and teachers (Education). 5 seats: $799. Cinewright Continuity: $99, as its own tier or as an add-on to any Mac tier. There are larger tiers for production companies. See every tier.

Can I buy it now?

Not yet. The first chance is the Kickstarter campaign in late 2026 or early 2027. After the campaign, licences for the Mac apps are sold directly and sent by email, and Cinewright Pro is sold in the App Store. Join the list to hear the day it opens.

How do I get my licence?

By email, after the campaign ends: a licence file and a link that unlocks the app. It works offline, with no account and no check-ins.

Can I try it first?

Yes, once the apps are out. Budgeting and Scheduling works on the sample production and one real production of your own with no time limit; Cinewright Continuity lines and logs the first 3 pages of any script; Cinewright for iPhone and iPad has free tools, and the script supervisor works on one whole production free for 60 days. What each one does free.

What do I get for following on Kickstarter?

Everyone who follows on Kickstarter gets 30 days of Cinewright Pro for iPhone and iPad; the code is on the campaign page on launch day. Following needs a free Kickstarter account.

Are there founder perks?

Backers get a Founder badge with their founder number, their name in the in-app Founders credits if they want it, a second licence to give a colleague once, and version 2.0 free as well as every 1.x update.
