A production file holds weeks of work. So before launch, the Cinewright apps were broken on purpose: quit in the middle of saving, fed damaged files and cut off by a bad network. This page says what was tested and what happened.

What was tested, and what happened
Mac and iPhone
Forced quits in the middle of saving
The apps were force-quit thousands of times while saving, importing and sharing a production.
6,000 forced quits of the Mac engine mid-save: no file damaged or lost. Each one left the last save or the save in progress.
Thousands more on iPhone and in Cinewright Continuity on the Mac, some with storage set to fail and slow down. The final runs passed every check.

Damaged files and storage
6,000 reads of production folders damaged in 10 ways, from files cut short or changed to folders removed mid-read.
A full disk, a read-only folder, a file removed while open, and inputs of 40 MB and a million scenes.
1,680 damaged signed Reader copies were tried. None was accepted as genuine.
1,680 damaged day and progress files were passed between Mac and iPhone. A clean file afterwards always gave the same result as a clean import.

The crew on a bad network
Cinewright Continuity on the Mac and two iPhones shared a show while the network dropped, delayed, repeated, reordered and damaged messages.
One device was force-quit every 20 to 40 seconds.
Every round ended with everyone back on the show and the Mac following both cameras.
In a second test, a Mac host and three crew members were force-quit 53 times. Every member ended in step with the host, with no event lost or doubled.

All 16 languages and regions
Saving, opening, sending a day and bringing progress back were tested in every language and region.
These included the Saudi and Japanese calendars and Hindi digits.
Every language and region gave identical results.

A 3,000-scene season
A generated season of 3,000 scenes was opened on every screen of Budgeting and Scheduling and CW Office, in light and dark.
Cinewright Continuity was walked through every window, tab and sheet with 3,000 scenes, 150 days and 23,922 takes, in English and Arabic.
No crash on any screen, and every Continuity screen opens quickly at that size.

Automated tests
Mac engine: 2,008 tests, 0 failed.
iPhone and iPad app: 1,270 tests plus speed tests, all passing.
A change goes into the apps only when every test passes.
Where the tests ran
These results come from Macs and from iPhone and iPad simulators, using generated test productions. Testing on real iPhones, iPads and Apple Watches continues before the Kickstarter launch in late 2026 or early 2027.
The problems these tests found were fixed, and the tests were run again on the fixed apps.
This page says what was tested and what the result was. No test can rule out every problem, so keep backups of your productions, as with any software.
