Comparison

Script supervisor apps compared

Updated 28 October 2026

Short answer

Cinewright does script supervising in two places: in Cinewright for iPhone and iPad, and in Cinewright Continuity for Mac, bought once, with one licence opening both. ScriptE runs on iPad and Mac by subscription; Scripty, LockitScript and Script Evolution are iPad or iPhone apps, each sold differently. Cinewright is finished and launches through Kickstarter in late 2026 or early 2027; nothing is on sale yet.

What Cinewright adds

Built into Cinewright today, and shown in the feature table on this page as Not stated or No for the other products here, or working differently.

  • Script supervising on iPhone, iPad and Mac: one Cinewright Continuity licence ($149 once) opens the Mac app and script supervising in the iPhone and iPad app. On iPhone and iPad alone, Pro is $59.99 once.
  • In the same app as the director’s viewfinder, location scouting, the slate and other set tools.
  • Editorial exports built in: Avid ALE, EDL, DaVinci Resolve CSV, Final Cut Pro and Premiere Pro XML, and ASC CDL and ACES AMF (Resolve, the XML files, CDL and AMF need Pro).
  • Timecode from Tentacle Sync and Ambient Lockit over Bluetooth, or LTC by cable (Pro, on iPhone and iPad).
  • An Apple Watch slate remote: Marker, Cut and the take number.
  • An end-of-day check of the log against the camera’s clips, and a standby iPhone or iPad that keeps a live copy (both need Pro).
  • Live progress from set to the production office in Cinewright Budgeting and Scheduling (Pro).
  • The app in 16 languages, and reports in any of them, whatever language the app is in.

When ScriptE may suit you better

  • You need software you can buy and use today. Cinewright is finished and launches through Kickstarter in late 2026 or early 2027; nothing is on sale yet.
  • Your editors and DITs already work with ScriptE reports, or import ScriptE data straight into Silverstack.
  • You capture screen grabs from a camera feed with Blackmagic UltraStudio, Hollyland or Teradek hardware, which ScriptE names.
  • You want the same maker’s department continuity apps for hair, make-up and costume.

When Scripty may suit you better

  • You want a lower one-time price: $24.99, after one free production.
  • You want a small, focused app that is on the App Store today.

When LockitScript may suit you better

  • Your production uses Lockit+ boxes for timecode and camera metadata, or the LockitNetwork Production Service.

When Script Evolution may suit you better

  • You supervise a few days at a time and prefer to pay by shooting day.

Moving your work

Cinewright brings in takes logged in other apps:

  • Silverstack CSV, such as one exported from ScriptE, through Import takes from another app
  • Scripts from Final Draft, Fountain and PDF, or a paper script scanned
  • A “Coming from ScriptE” tour names each ScriptE word and shows where Cinewright’s control is: watch it
