What is in the template

  • The front: Production, day and date, revision number, date and colour, general crew call, shooting call and estimated wrap, weather, sunrise and sunset, meals, key contacts, set location, parking and base camp, and the nearest hospital.
  • The day's work: Scenes with set, synopsis, day or night, pages and cast; the cast list with status, pickup, makeup and wardrobe and on-set times; background and stand-ins; department notes; safety instructions.
  • Advance schedule: Tomorrow's scenes at the foot of the page, so everyone can see what is coming.
  • The back: A crew list by department with name, phone and call time, plus the production office, radio channels, and the map and directions.

How to use it

  1. Fill in the day. Start with the production, day number, date and general crew call. Add the weather, sunrise and sunset for the set location on that date.
  2. Find the nearest hospital. Put the nearest emergency room's name, address, phone and drive time on the front, for every location the unit works at that day.
  3. List scenes and cast. Copy the day's strips from the stripboard: scene, set, day or night, pages and cast numbers. Then give each cast member a pickup, makeup and on-set time.
  4. Set crew calls on the back. In the workbook each crew call shows the general crew call until you type a different time.
  5. Number every revision. When anything changes after the sheet goes out, raise the revision number, write the date and time, and send it again.

Is this call sheet template free?

Yes. Every file downloads directly from this page with no account, no email and no sign-up, for any production.

What should a film call sheet include?

At least the date and day number, general crew call, the set location and parking, the nearest hospital, weather with sunrise and sunset, the day's scenes, cast calls, crew calls and the next day's schedule. This template has room for all of them.

Why is there a revision number?

Call sheets change. A revision number, date and colour on the front tell the crew at a glance which version they are holding.

Does the Excel call sheet work in Google Sheets?

Yes. Open the .xlsx from Google Drive. The page totals in eighths, the cast count and the crew calls keep working.

Does it work in Apple Numbers?

Yes. Download the Numbers file; the totals and drop-down lists keep working on Mac, iPad and iPhone.
